What is the pressure of a high pressure steam boiler? In the U.S. it starts just above 15 psi, in Europe it kicks in at around 15 bar, and on an MPa scale you’re looking at roughly 6–13 MPa.
United States (ASME Code):
- Boilers up to 15 psi (around 0.1 MPa) are treated as low-pressure.
- Anything above 15 psi falls into the high-pressure category.
Europe (EN Standards):
In practice, engineers often split pressures like this:
- Low: under 1 bar
- Medium: 1–15 bar
- High: 15–100 bar
- Ultra-high: over 100 bar
MPa-Based System (ISO and Others):
- Low-pressure: up to 2.5 MPa
- Medium: 2.5–6.0 MPa
- High: 6.0–13.0 MPa
- Ultra-high: above 13.0 MPa
